Lumoava Repair & Maintenance Service

We craft our jewelry with solid expertise to last for generations, but sometimes they may need a little maintenance. By servicing your jewelry, you can ensure it enjoys a lifetime of use across generations. If your Lumoava piece breaks, becomes dirty, or tarnishes, let our Lumoava Repair & Maintenance Service help you.

With the Lumoava Repair & Maintenance Service, you can have a broken clasp or snapped chain fixed, and restore your jewelry’s original shine. Our service also helps if you wish to shorten or lengthen the length of your Lumoava jewelry or resize your Lumoava ring.

If your Lumoava jewelry needs maintenance, we recommend first contacting your nearest retailer. Our retailers can quickly assess the maintenance needs of your jewelry and will either send it to our jewelry factory in Kuopio for servicing or carry out minor repairs themselves. Alternatively, you can send your jewelry directly to our Lumoava Repair & Maintenance Service. Maintenance services are subject to a fee, and you can find our up‑to‑date service price list below.

Our jewelry comes with a two‑year warranty covering manufacturing defects. The warranty does not cover faults related to normal use and wear. For any warranty matters, please contact our customer service at lumoavashop@lumoava.fior your nearest retailer. You can read our full warranty terms here.

Jewelry care at home

You can have a big impact on the condition of the jewelry you wear! Our pieces are made to be worn in all of life’s moments, but please protect them from situations where they may be subjected to excessive strain, such as stretching or abrasion.

We craft our jewelry from 100% recycled silver and gold, and with regular care, you can keep them beautifully bright for as long as possible.

Silver Jewelry

Silver jewelry naturally tarnishes over time, which is why we rhodium‑plate most of our silver pieces. Rhodium plating helps prevent natural tarnishing, which is mainly caused by sulfur in the air and the acidic pH of the skin.

You can help your silver jewelry stay bright for longer by cleaning it regularly. Dirt and oils that accumulate on the surface can make jewelry look dull and speed up wear. Clean your silver jewelry with warm water and a mild soapy solution (e.g., dish soap) using a very soft brush. After washing, dry the jewelry with a soft cotton cloth.

Please note that washing with soap and water alone will not remove natural tarnish. If your jewelry has become heavily tarnished, we recommend sending it to us for professional maintenance—either through our Lumoava Repair & Maintenance Service or by visiting your nearest retailer.

Gold-plated Silver Jewelry

Our gold-plated jewelry pieces are sterling silver coated with gold. To keep the surface of your jewelry beautiful, remember to clean it regularly and follow the use and care instructions for gold-plated jewelry. Like silver jewelry, gold-plated silver pieces should be washed in warm water with a mild soap solution (e.g., dishwashing liquid) using a very soft brush. After washing, dry the piece with a soft cotton cloth.

Gold Jewlery

Gold jewelry does not tarnish in the same way as silver, but over time it collects oils and dirt from use, which can make it look dull and lose its shine. Dirt that has built up on gold jewelry can usually be removed with mild warm soapy water and a soft brush. Finally, dry your gold jewelry with the softest, lint-free cotton cloth possible.

Other maintenance and care for gold jewelry typically involve checking and tightening gemstone settings, as well as caring for any pearls or other decorations. These tasks should be left to our skilled goldsmiths. The best care you can personally provide for your precious jewelry is to use it wisely. For example, do not wear a gold ring when going to the gym to lift weights or when working in the garden with your hands deep in the soil.

Pronssikorut (Lumoava Studio)

Care should be taken with pearls, gemstones, and other decorations. Perfumes and similar chemicals can be extremely harmful to them, and we recommend, for example, that you remove pearl and gemstone jewelry before going to the sauna. Pearls in particular (which you can find in our Pearl collection) are delicate, organic material, and any solvents, heat, or direct sunlight can damage their natural luster.

It is often wise to have pearl and gemstone jewelry cleaning and maintenance carried out by a professional. The recommended maintenance interval naturally depends on how often you wear your jewelry. A piece worn daily should be taken to a goldsmith for inspection and cleaning once a year.

Leather cords

Some of our jewelry features leather details. Bracelets and pendants with leather cords can be found, for example, in our Soturi and Toivo collections. We use high-quality genuine leather in our jewelry, sourced from Italy. Genuine leather is flexible and durable, with excellent resistance to wear and a long lifespan. As a natural material, leather develops a patina and slightly changes color over time, with the change appearing as a darkening of the leather.
